The awkward question, answered first
What will this actually cost?
Almost nobody in this trade will put a number on a page. So homeowners collect three quotes with no way to judge them, and the cheapest one wins by default — which is how you end up with one thin coat over unprepped wood.
We publish our ranges, we cite where they come from, and we explain what legitimately moves the number. Then you can walk into every estimate appointment — ours included — already knowing roughly what you should be hearing.
| Home size | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Under 1,500 sq ft | $3,000 – $5,000 |
| 1,500 – 2,500 sq ft | $5,000 – $9,000 |
| 2,500 – 3,500 sq ft | $8,000 – $14,000 |
| 3,500 sq ft and up | $12,000 – $20,000+ |
What we do
Eight things, done by people who do only these things
Exterior painting
Wash, scrape, sand, prime every bare board, two finish coats. The New England exterior season is short — we plan the calendar around it, not around our backlog.
What it costs & how it worksInterior painting
Most interior work happens in a house someone is still living in. That changes everything about how a crew should behave — and it is the part most contractors never write down.
What it costs & how it worksCabinet painting
The same kitchen, a fifth of the price of new cabinets, and you keep the boxes that were built better than anything you can buy today.
What it costs & how it worksCarpentry & rot repair
Paint does not fix rot, it hides it for a season. We carry in-house carpenters so the repair and the paint are one job, one warranty and one company to call.
What it costs & how it worksDecks & fences
A deck is the hardest-working horizontal surface on your property. It also gets refinished more often than anything else, so the question that matters is what it costs you over ten years.
What it costs & how it worksHouse & power washing
Most “pressure washing” damage in this area is done by pressure. On wood siding we use low pressure and the right cleaner, because a wand at 3,000 psi puts water where it does not belong.
What it costs & how it worksWallpaper & ceilings
Two jobs people start themselves on a Saturday and regret by Sunday. Both are mostly about what you do to the surface afterwards.
What it costs & how it worksCommercial painting
Offices, retail suites, condo associations, common areas and senior housing — scheduled around your operating hours, not ours.
What it costs & how it worksReal jobs, real houses
Drag the handle
These are our own photographs of our own work. Same house, same angle, before and after.

A kitchen that did not need replacing
Same boxes, same layout, same granite. Doors came off, were degreased, sanded, bond-primed and sprayed. The homeowner kept solid hardwood cabinetry and spent a fraction of what a replacement would have cost.
Cabinet painting

When paint is not the problem
Paint was coming off in sheets because the substrate underneath had failed. Our carpenters stripped it back, replaced what was gone, back-primed every new board on all sides, and then the paint crew went to work. One company, one warranty.
Carpentry & rot repair

Yellow to slate blue, in one season
A full color change means real coverage — wash, scrape, sand, spot-prime every bare board, then two full finish coats. The shed and the trim were brought into the new scheme at the same time.
Exterior painting

Mahogany, brought back
New mahogany decking left to weather, then stripped, brightened, sanded and finished with a penetrating stain that shows the grain instead of hiding it. Stain, not paint — because paint on a deck floor peels.
Decks & fencesWhy this is different
Four promises other painters could make and mostly do not
The Final Walk
We walk the property with you, write the punch list on paper, and finish every item on it before we invoice the balance. The single most common complaint about painting contractors in this area — including the best-reviewed ones — is that they fumble the last 5%. So we made the last 5% a formal, scheduled, signed step.
How a job runsA 3-year written warranty
Not “we stand behind our work.” A written warranty in the contract covering peeling, blistering and cracking caused by workmanship, with the exclusions listed so there is nothing to argue about later. Three years is the longest anyone in MetroWest offers.
Read the termsOne project manager who speaks your language
Most of our painters are Brazilian and Portuguese is their first language — career tradespeople, several with fifteen-plus years on the brush. A customer once told us the project manager needed to be there so she could communicate with the crew. She was right. Now one named, English-speaking manager is on site at every job start, checks in daily, and gives you a direct number. Prefer Portuguese? Também falamos português.
Meet the teamWritten property protection
Plants pre-wet, covered with breathable cloths and rinsed at the end of the day. Nothing stored on lawns. Floors papered and taped, furniture centred and sheeted, set-up and take-down every single day so you get your house back each evening. It is in the job packet, not just on a website.

Customers, crews and jobs — on camera
Nothing here loads from YouTube until you press play, so the page stays fast whether you watch or not.
No obligation, no sales pressure
Book a walk-through
An estimator comes out, measures, looks at what is actually failing, and writes you a fixed price with a start date. It holds for 30 days. There is no discount that expires when he leaves your kitchen.

This is a homeowner in Concord, filmed outside her own house last October, describing what the job was actually like. She is not an actor and it is not a script — which is why it is worth more than anything we could write about ourselves.

What customers say, in their own words
Including the critical ones. A page of nothing but five stars is not credible and everybody knows it.
We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Target Painting, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Alex and Hector did an outstanding job and were extremely careful, skilled, and attentive to detail throughout the project… The quality of the preparation and painting was excellent, and the finished house looks terrific.
Target Painting worked really hard to restore and paint my home. The home needed a lot of carpentry work on the south side. Target replaced/repaired all of the trim that needed attention. Then they cleaned the gutters, power-washed, caulked and prepped all surfaces for painting. The job was done correctly and not rushed. I will have Target back for several other projects I have coming up.
I have used Target painting now for both interior and exterior painting. The exterior was just finished and they did an excellent job. Big shout out to Joe and Matheus for getting my house painted to perfection. I highly recommend this company.
I used Target Painting to paint the exterior of my house this Spring and couldn’t be happier. Junior and his crew thoroughly prepped the surfaces, primed and painted quickly and efficiently; what a difference! All were very friendly and helpful, thank you!
Another Great job by Target Painting, thanks to Paulo, Jose L. and Lucas Santos. This time I have a new kitchen! From the get-go every step was flawless. The prep work, execution was extensive, well-coordinated and supervised… the result is spectacular: Artists at work!
Target Painting & Contracting is an elite team who are wonderful to work with! They are super responsive, do a great job and follow up to make sure the job is done right the first time. They expertly painted 3 interior rooms to perfection on a tight timeline to support a move while ensuring cleanliness. They even had to do a color match with an existing wall and matched it perfectly!

Questions people ask before they call anyone
How much does it cost to paint a house in MetroWest?
A full exterior repaint in Massachusetts typically runs $3,000 – $5,000 for a house under 1,500 sq ft, $5,000 – $9,000 for a standard colonial, and $8,000 – $14,000 for 2,500 – 3,500 sq ft. Interiors run roughly $2 – $6 per square foot of floor area. We publish the full breakdown, with sources, on our pricing page — and you can get a range for your specific project in about a minute with our estimate tool.
How soon can you start?
It depends on the season. Interiors and cabinets we can usually schedule within two to three weeks year-round. Exterior work between April and June books out fastest — homeowners who call in January get first pick of the spring calendar. We will always tell you a real date rather than an optimistic one.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration #177081, valid to November 16, 2027. Look it up yourself on the MA Contractor Hub. We carry general liability and workers compensation, and certificates go out from our agent on request. Full credentials →
My house was built in 1910. Does that change anything?
Yes, and it should. Homes built before 1978 fall under federal and Massachusetts lead-safe renovation rules once a job disturbs more than 6 sq ft of painted surface in a room, or 20 sq ft outside — and any window replacement is covered at any size. Work above those lines has to be done by a Massachusetts-licensed Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor, and it adds roughly 15–30% to the affected labour.
Target Painting is not currently a Massachusetts-licensed Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor, so we do not quote work above these thresholds in a pre-1978 home. We will say so at the walk-through and point you to firms that are licensed. The thresholds, the five questions to ask every bidder, and how to check anyone on the state list →
Do you do the carpentry too, or do I need a second contractor?
We carry our own carpenters. That matters more than it sounds — replaced boards get primed on all six sides before installation, the trim profile actually matches, and there is one company on the hook if a joint opens in two winters. Carpentry and rot repair →
What happens at the end of the job?
We walk the property with you, write the punch list on paper, and complete it before we ask for the final payment. It is the most common failure point in this trade — including for the best-regarded companies in this area — so we made it a formal step. How a job runs →
