These terms cover the Spotlight personal brand website service from Local Service Spotlight. Buying a Spotlight subscription means you agree to them. We wrote them in plain English on purpose.
1. What Spotlight is
Spotlight is a done-for-you personal brand website service. For $99/month we research you, build a standardized personal brand website on a domain you own, host it, keep it secure and maintained, and update it when you send us news. The sales page lists exactly what is included and what is not. The short version: Spotlight is a personal brand website, not custom web development.
2. Billing and refunds
$99/month, billed through our payment provider, starting at purchase. Optional add-ons are priced separately.
If you are not happy in your first 30 days, tell us and we refund everything, no questions. After that, cancel anytime; billing stops at the end of the paid month and we do not issue partial-month refunds.
3. Your domain is yours, and your responsibility
Your site lives on a domain you own. You register it and you pay its renewal. If your domain registration lapses, your site and any email on that domain go offline, and that is outside our control. We never take ownership of your domain. You point its nameservers at our infrastructure, and you can point them anywhere else at any time.
When you switch nameservers to us, we copy your existing email records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) so your email keeps working. If you change email providers later, tell us so we can update those records.
4. Your content is yours
Everything published on your site about you, including your story, your photos, and your posts, is yours. The site template, design system, and the software that builds and maintains the site are ours and remain ours. You give us permission to research publicly available information about you and publish it on your site, and to use your name, photo, and business information for that purpose.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us and for having rights to any photo you upload. When your site goes live we send you a summary of what we found and published. Tell us about any error and we fix it.
5. Cancellation
Cancel anytime. When you cancel, or after a final failed payment:
- Your site stays live, unchanged, for a 30-day grace period.
- During the grace period we email you a complete copy of your website as a zip file. It works on any static web host. It is yours, no charge.
- At the end of the grace period we shut down the infrastructure serving your site. Important: our servers also answer DNS for your whole domain at that point, so before the grace period ends you need to point your nameservers somewhere else, or your domain, including email on it, will stop resolving. The grace-period emails explain exactly how, and we help if you ask.
6. What we promise and what we don’t
We keep your site online, secure, and maintained, and we respond to accessibility barrier reports within five business days (see the accessibility statement on every site we build). We do not promise specific search rankings, a Google Knowledge Panel by a certain date, traffic numbers, or new customers. Search engines are not ours to control.
7. Acceptable use
Your site presents who you are and what you do, truthfully. We will not publish content that is unlawful, deceptive, or that claims credentials you do not hold, and we may decline or remove such content. A subscription covers one person. If someone else wants a site, that is a new subscription, not a transfer.
8. Liability
Spotlight is provided as is, to the fullest extent allowed by law. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost business.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Meaningful changes get emailed to you before they take effect, and continuing to subscribe after that is acceptance.
