Executive Summary
TheDavidCarroll.com is a well-designed personal brand site built on WordPress (Astra + Elementor) that tells a compelling entrepreneurial redemption story. However, it has critical SEO and authority problems that are preventing it from ranking for anything and blocking Knowledge Panel eligibility.
The site looks professional, but Google essentially doesn’t know it exists. The domain rating is 1.5 (out of 100), it ranks for zero organic keywords, and most of its backlinks are spam. Meanwhile, dopemarketing.com has a DR of 45 and ranks for 98 keywords — that authority isn’t flowing to David’s personal brand site at all.
The good news: David has a massive amount of content across podcasts, media features, and articles that hasn’t been leveraged on this site. There’s a clear path to a Knowledge Panel if we execute on structured data, authority building, and content repurposing.
1. Current Site Overview
| Property | Details |
|---|---|
| URL | thedavidcarroll.com |
| Platform | WordPress (self-hosted) with Astra theme + Elementor page builder |
| Pages | Home, About, Connections, Blog, Gallery |
| Blog Posts | ~10 posts, all dated March 17, 2026 |
| Schema Markup | Person + Organization types present (good foundation) |
| SSL | Active (HTTPS) |
| Last Modified | March 16, 2026 |
| Social Links | Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter |
WordPress.com Connection Issue
TheDavidCarroll.com doesn’t appear in the WordPress.com sites connected to your account. It’s likely self-hosted WordPress (not WordPress.com) or connected via a different account. This means I can’t directly edit content through the WordPress MCP tools — we’d need to log in directly or connect the site via Jetpack.
2. Bugs & Issues Found
All ~10 blog posts show the same date: March 17, 2026. This appears to be a bulk-publish or scheduling error. It looks unnatural to visitors and sends bad signals to Google (no publishing cadence). Each post should have a realistic, staggered date.
Of the ~10 backlinks pointing to the site, at least 6 are from obvious SEO spam domains (itxoft-seo-for-higher-rankings.site, seoexpress.org, fiverr-seo-for-small-businesses.site, primeseo.xyz, grow-fast.website, seo-backlink.agency). These links contain fake testimonials claiming thedavidcarroll.com offers “SEO services.” These should be disavowed immediately in Google Search Console.
The Tim Grover entry on the Connections page appears cut off mid-word (“lege[ntary…]”). The page also ends abruptly, suggesting incomplete content.
Blog post excerpts are only 1-2 sentences, mostly describing photos with connections. There’s no substantive content, no keyword targeting, and no value for readers or search engines. The “Awesome People” category is the only taxonomy in use.
The homepage describes David as “38 years old.” If the birthday present was for turning 40, this needs updating to reflect his current age or — better — remove the specific age entirely so it doesn’t go stale.
The gallery uses basic thumbnail-to-full-image linking rather than a proper lightbox. Adding a simple lightbox (e.g., Lightbox for Elementor) would improve the user experience significantly.
Ahrefs shows zero broken backlinks. All linked pages are returning 200 status codes. This is good — no 404 cleanup needed.
The Astra + Elementor implementation is polished, mobile-responsive, and well-organized. Hero imagery is strong, the color scheme is consistent, and the information hierarchy is clear.
3. SEO & Knowledge Panel Analysis
Current SEO Metrics
| Metric | thedavidcarroll.com | dopemarketing.com |
|---|---|---|
| Domain Rating | 1.5 | 45 |
| Organic Keywords | 0 | 98 |
| Organic Traffic | 0 | 1,038/mo |
| Ahrefs Rank | 46,794,374 | 955,241 |
Why the Site Isn’t Ranking
The blog posts are photo captions, not articles. There’s no content targeting “David Carroll entrepreneur,” “David Carroll Dope Marketing,” “David Carroll Inc 5000,” or any of the terms people would search to find him.
Dope Marketing’s site has real authority but doesn’t appear to link to thedavidcarroll.com. A prominent “About the Founder” link from dopemarketing.com would immediately pass authority and help Google understand these entities are connected.
Knowledge Panel Readiness
| Requirement | Status | Action Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Schema.org Person markup | Present | Expand with birthDate, alumniOf, award fields |
| sameAs social links | Present | Add Crunchbase, Wikidata, Apple Podcasts links |
| Wikipedia/Wikidata entry | Missing | Create Wikidata entry (Inc 5000 makes him notable enough) |
| Consistent NAP across web | Partial | Ensure name/title consistent on all profiles |
| Media coverage with entity recognition | Exists | Forbes, Inc, US Business News — need to reference these prominently |
| Crunchbase profile | Exists | Flesh it out with full bio, milestones, funding info |
| Birth date | Missing | Add to schema and visible bio |
| Education details | Missing | Add to About page and schema |
4. Content Found for Repurposing
David has a wealth of content across the web that should be brought onto his personal brand site as articles, embeds, and press mentions.

6. Suggested Blog Post Briefs (from Repurposable Content)
Sources: CEO Weekly interview, US Business News feature, Roofing Insights interview, About page content
Angle: Full redemption narrative with business milestones — prison at 18, Lions Share Maintenance by 24, DOPE Marketing by 2017, Inc 5000 by 2024. Include all the great quotes from CEO Weekly (“I’m a wartime CEO,” “Failure is just data”).
Length: 1,500-2,000 words
Sources: Home Service Expert podcast, Lighting for Profits episode, dopemarketing.com product info
Angle: Thought leadership piece positioning David as the expert who modernized direct mail. Cover the open API, CRM triggers, Neighborhood Blitz, handwriting machines.
Length: 1,200-1,500 words
Sources: iHeart interview ($30M/year revelation), US Business News (14 to 65 employees), CEO Weekly (1,440-minute philosophy)
Angle: Business leadership focused — delegation, giving up control to gain it, wellness routines, sobriety and clarity. The “be defined by the husband and father I am” narrative is gold.
Length: 1,200-1,500 words
7. Knowledge Panel Roadmap
Getting David a Google Knowledge Panel requires Google to recognize him as a notable entity. Here’s the specific roadmap:
Step 1: Entity Foundation (Week 1-2)
Add: birthDate, birthPlace (St. Paul, MN), jobTitle (Founder & CEO), worksFor (Dope Marketing), award (Inc. 5000 2024, Inc. 5000 2025), knowsAbout (direct mail automation, marketing technology, home services marketing), alumniOf (if applicable). Add all sameAs URLs including Crunchbase, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Wikidata (once created).
Step 2: Wikidata Entry (Week 2-3)
Notability justification: Inc. 5000 honoree (2024 #475, 2025 #670), featured in Forbes and Inc. Magazine, CEO of 65+ person company with $30M+ annual revenue. Reference all published articles as citations. This is the single most important step for a Knowledge Panel.
Step 3: Authority Building (Week 3-8)
Ensure “David Carroll” + “Dope Marketing” + “Founder and CEO” appears consistently across: LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Inc.com profile, all media articles, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and the personal site. Google’s Knowledge Graph connects entities through consistency.
Step 4: Claim & Verify (Month 2-3)
After the entity is recognized, David can claim the Knowledge Panel through Google Search to add/correct information, add a featured image, and manage the panel directly.
8. Current Backlink Profile
Only 2 legitimate backlinks exist. The rest are spam that needs to be disavowed.

Next Steps
This report is a living document. The P0 items can be knocked out in a single session if we can get WordPress admin access (either directly or by connecting the site to your WordPress.com account via Jetpack). Once connected, I can start fixing bugs and publishing content immediately.
