Senior living & assisted living painting

Painting a building where people live full time, many with mobility or cognitive needs, is a different discipline from painting an office. It is mostly about containment, routing and behaviour.

Why this is a specialism

In a senior living community the work happens around residents who cannot easily be relocated for the day. Getting it right is less about the coating and more about everything surrounding it:

  • Low-VOC and low-odour products specified as standard, not as an upgrade.
  • Corridor routing so there is always a clear, well-lit, unobstructed path — and never a wet floor between a resident and a bathroom.
  • Egress maintained continuously. This is a code matter, and in a licensed facility it is not negotiable for a single hour.
  • Phased by wing, in small sections, so disruption is contained and predictable.
  • Consistent crew so residents see familiar faces rather than a rotating cast of strangers.
  • Quiet hours respected, no radios, no shouting between floors.
  • Daily clean-down to a genuinely finished state, not a taped-off construction zone overnight.

Working with your team

We coordinate with the executive director, the maintenance director and, where relevant, life enrichment — because a resident who knows on Monday that their hallway is being painted on Thursday has a completely different experience from one who does not. We will attend a resident meeting to explain the schedule if that helps.

Compliance and documentation

Certificates of insurance including workers compensation, issued to the operator and the ownership entity before mobilisation. Product data and safety data sheets provided in advance for your files. Photographic records by area. Where the building predates 1978, Massachusetts lead-safe renovation rules govern which work can be done and by whom — the thresholds are here.

FAQ

Questions we get from boards and managers

Are your crews background-checked?

We will meet the screening standard your operator requires and provide documentation before mobilisation. Tell us your policy and we will comply with it.

Can you work in memory care?

Yes, with additional protocols agreed with your director — tighter containment, shorter work sections, tools never left unattended, and coordination around daily routines.

How do you handle odour complaints?

By preventing them: low-VOC products, negative air where appropriate, and phasing so a resident is never adjacent to fresh coating overnight. If someone is sensitive, tell us and we will schedule their area around them.
