Wallpaper: steam or solution, then glue removal, then skim and sand to a paint-ready wall.
A wallpaper partner installs new paper when you want it. Tina helps you choose the pattern first.
Wallpaper removal is messy work — we contain the room, skim-coat if needed, and leave walls paint-ready.
We tell you honestly when covering is better than removing.
Wallpaper: the part nobody warns you about
Getting the paper off is the easy half. What is left is adhesive, and paint over residual adhesive will bubble, sometimes months later. The real work is washing the glue off, letting the wall dry fully, then skim-coating and sanding.
Older MetroWest houses often have wallpaper hung directly on unprimed plaster or blueboard. In those cases the paper facing can tear away with the paper, and the wall needs a genuine skim coat rather than a spot repair. We will open a test patch at the estimate so you know which situation you are in before you get a price.
New wallpaper, when you want it
Removal and skim-coating are ours. Installation is done by a wallpaper partner we trust. Tina, our color and design consultant, sits with you on samples so the paper you pick is the paper that goes on the wall.
Recent work
Wallpaper & ceilings photographs
We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Target Painting, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Alex and Hector did an outstanding job and were extremely careful, skilled, and attentive to detail throughout the project… The quality of the preparation and painting was excellent, and the finished house looks terrific.
Target Painting worked really hard to restore and paint my home. The home needed a lot of carpentry work on the south side. Target replaced/repaired all of the trim that needed attention. Then they cleaned the gutters, power-washed, caulked and prepped all surfaces for painting. The job was done correctly and not rushed. I will have Target back for several other projects I have coming up.
I have used Target painting now for both interior and exterior painting. The exterior was just finished and they did an excellent job. Big shout out to Joe and Matheus for getting my house painted to perfection. I highly recommend this company.
FAQ
Wallpaper & ceilings — questions we get asked
Can you just paint over my wallpaper?
Sometimes — if it is well adhered, seams are tight, and it is not a vinyl or fabric face. It needs an oil or shellac primer first. It is a legitimate option and we will price it as an alternative so you can compare.
Can you install new wallpaper too?
Yes. We remove the old paper and skim-coat if the wall needs it. A wallpaper partner we work with hangs the new paper. Tina, our color and design consultant, can help you choose it before anyone starts.
